VOLKODAV 2 Interceptor Drone — Drone-vs-Drone with Onboard Homing

AIMS. LAUNCHES. TEARS.
No explosives · Early detection + AI homing · Built to order
In short VOLKODAV 2 is a drone-vs-drone interceptor: an FPV aircraft with onboard AI that homes in on the target via its thermal camera video and finishes the attack by ramming — no explosives, no GPS/GLONASS. VOLKODAV designs and manufactures it in-house: airframe, electronics and homing software. Unlike shotguns or jammers, it meets the threat mid-air at range.
01 · PROBLEM

A Shotgun Does Not Stop an Attacking Drone

Site security has a perimeter and firearms. What it lacks is a tool that reaches an aerial target.

WHAT SECURITY HAS TODAY

Perimeter, posts, patrol — and a shotgun

Fencing, observation posts, a patrol vehicle. Since June, security services have been allowed combat shotguns and smoothbore weapons. But small arms are unreliable against a small, fast aerial target — proven in practice: neither a shotgun nor a machine gun gives a guaranteed kill against a UAV.

THE SOLUTION — AERIAL INTERCEPTION

The interceptor drone meets the target in the air

The interceptor works where a shotgun is useless — at range and altitude. It complements the security team's combat kit rather than replacing it. Each security unit gets its own interception kit: detection, target designation, launch.

02 · PRINCIPLE

Detect — Aim — Ram

The drone-vs-drone scheme: an AI-guided interceptor physically rams the target in the air.

Air defense missile — anti-missile
CUAS drone — counter-drone (our approach)
🛡️

No Explosives

Physical ramming without warheads — safe for the site, its infrastructure and people.

🧠

AI Homing

The onboard AI tracks the target via video on its own — from lock to impact, no operator involved.

📡

Jam-Resistant

No GPS/GLONASS: satellite navigation jamming has no effect on the interceptor.

Cost-Effective

The interceptor costs a fraction of a percent of the potential damage from a strike on the site.

03 · MANUFACTURING

We Are the Developer and Manufacturer

Not a reseller. Three components of our own: airframe, detection, homing software.

🛠️

Our Own Interceptor Drone

In-house assembly of the airframe and electronics. The aircraft delivers the declared speed and range figures.

👁️

Early Detection System

Detects the aerial target and issues target designation to the crew. Details on the early detection system page.

💾

Interception and Homing Software

Onboard AI: video target lock and autonomous convergence to ram — developed in-house.

04 · HOW IT WORKS

Three Steps — the Drone Does the Rest

The operator only has to aim and launch. Lock, tracking and interception are handled by the onboard AI.

01

Early Detection

The system finds the aerial target and passes target designation to the crew.

02

Operator Aims and Launches

A human points the interceptor at the target and launches it. The operator's part ends here.

03

Autonomous Interception

The onboard AI tracks the target via video and rams it on its own — no operator, no GPS.

05 · KIT

What Is Included in the Kit

The customer gets a ready-to-use system: hardware, software, a trained crew and ongoing support.

🚁

Interceptor Drone

A 10-inch FPV platform with onboard AI — target lock and autonomous homing.

🎮

07 · ECONOMICS

An Expendable Interceptor vs Irreversible Damage

Reference pricing — final figures depend on the kit configuration.

~350K
RUB
reference price of a single interceptor
50–500M
RUB
damage from a single successful UAV strike on a site
1st

payback — with the first prevented incident
The damage is asymmetric: one successful strike equals years of security budget. An expendable interceptor prevents an incident worth tens to hundreds of millions and lowers the site's insurance risks.
08 · WHO IT IS FOR

Who Needs an Interception Kit

Those already responsible for a site — and missing the aerial layer of its defense.

🏭

Private Security at Critical Sites

Refineries, fuel depots, power facilities, industrial sites — an interception kit for each security unit.

🛢️

Corporate Security Services

In-house security of major energy-sector facilities — reinforcing the standard combat kit.

10 · FAQ

Interceptor Drone Questions

How is an interceptor drone different from a shotgun or electronic warfare?

Small arms are unreliable against a small, fast aerial target: shotguns and machine guns give no guaranteed kill against a UAV — proven in practice. Electronic warfare jams the control link but fails against targets with onboard autonomy or alternative communication channels. The interceptor drone meets the target in the air and physically rams it at range and altitude — where a shotgun is useless. It complements the security team's kit rather than replacing it.

Does the interceptor work when GPS is jammed?

Yes. VOLKODAV 2 does not use satellite navigation: the operator aims and launches the drone over a radio link, and the final approach is handled by the onboard AI using video from the forward-facing thermal camera. GPS/GLONASS jamming, which disables most autonomous UAVs, has no effect on the interceptor.

What is included in the delivery kit?

Six components: the interceptor drone — a 10-inch FPV platform with onboard AI; the control kit — ground control station, pilot remote, FPV goggles and operator workstation; the early detection system with target designation for the crew; the homing software — onboard target lock and interception; crew training in piloting and employment; and ongoing support — service, spare parts and expendable drones.

How much does the VOLKODAV 2 interceptor drone cost?

The reference price is about 350,000 RUB per interceptor. The final price depends on the kit configuration: the early detection setup, the number of expendable drones, and the scope of training and support. For comparison, the damage from a single successful UAV strike is estimated at 50–500 million RUB, so the kit pays for itself with the first prevented incident.

What stage is the product at?

A working prototype is being built right now: the airframe, the onboard AI and the homing system. We are ready to demonstrate an interception at a test range in real conditions. Next steps are a pilot deployment at the customer's site with crew training, followed by serial production. Manufacturing scales to the customer's volume and mission.
